Art & Culture Village: A Place to Discover, Create and Share
At the Art & Culture Village, it is curiosity that opens the workshop door. Chasing a colour, touching the earth or hearing yourself within a sound can be the first step towards creating. Programmes designed for children, families and adults invite guests of every level to join this creative world through their own interests.
The monthly programme introduces you to different materials and forms of expression. As your hands get to know the material, the way you see changes. In this approach, inspired by the atelier philosophy, learning unfolds within the natural rhythm of making. Periodic artist encounters and shared projects enrich the experience through collaboration.
Between workshops, take a break with soft drinks, tea and coffee at the Art & Culture Takeaway Bar (10:00 – 18:00) and unwind in the village's self-service seating corners. On selected evenings of the week, the village stage hosts special programmes. Outside programme hours, the walking trail, playgrounds and outdoor fitness areas around the village are free to use.
Creative Workshops: Seven Languages of Creativity
Painting, Ceramics, Woodwork, Music, Dance & Drama, Design & Thinking and Ecology: seven different ways to explore at the Art & Culture Village. Offered free of charge to hotel guests, the workshops take place within the 09:00 – 22:00 programme in both summer and winter.
Registration and participation: Registration takes place at the entrance of the Art & Culture Village. You can choose from content suited to every level, according to your interests. Children under 8 take part in age-appropriate workshops accompanied by a family member.
Painting Workshop: Colour, Line and Texture
As you carry the light of a landscape onto canvas, the details you notice take on new meaning. In the Painting Workshop, you work with colour, line and texture, interpreting the Aegean light through your own eyes.
Watercolour, acrylic and oil paint open up the many possibilities of colour. With drawing, printmaking and collage you can rebuild the surface, and with object painting you can step beyond the canvas. Children play with colour and form, while families come together on a shared piece. For adults, painting is a chance to enjoy the calm of creating while focusing on a single detail.
Ceramics Workshop: The Personal Language of Clay
Feel the coolness of clay in your palms. The form changes under the pressure of your fingers and becomes more defined with every touch. The Ceramics Workshop invites you to get to know the material and work at your own pace.
Explore form through hand-building, slab and wheel work, and give the surface texture with impression and carving techniques. Children discover the playful world of clay, while families shape pieces together. Ceramics sessions for adults are also held at the Zeytin'lik Workshop Area.
Woodwork Workshop: Touching the Texture of Nature
The grain of the wood reveals the unique pattern of the material in your hands. In the Woodwork Workshop, you get to know this texture and bring the shape you have designed to life, step by step.
Wood turning and fretsaw cutting offer different ways to turn an idea into an object. With pyrography and carving, you can add detail to the surface. In programmes for children, families and adults, measuring, experimenting and designing together are all part of discovering the rhythm of handcraft.
Music Workshop: The Story of Sound
Listen to a sound, respond to a rhythm. In the Music Workshop, you discover melody with piano and guitar, and a shared tempo with percussion and body percussion. Electronic music and DJ & Rhythm sessions offer the chance to experiment with different tones.
Singing, breathing, improvisation and composition sessions for adults help you discover the potential of your voice. With sound recording, you can listen back to what you have created and develop your interpretation.
Children get to know sounds and rhythm through musical games. Families meet in the same tempo in the choir, rhythm circle and family orchestra. Stage Preparation and Open Mic sessions bring the thrill of sharing music with others.
Dance & Drama Workshop: Rhythm Through the Body
When the music begins, movement becomes another way of expressing yourself. In the Dance & Drama Workshop, you follow the rhythm and explore your relationship with your body by trying out different movement styles.
In the Baby Ballet and Kid's Let's Dance sessions for children, music and play come together. Adults are introduced to styles ranging from Hip-Hop, Street Dance, K-Pop and Bollywood to Latin dance. In the Zumba, Salsa and Latin Mix sessions for families, the joy of moving together takes centre stage.
Design & Thinking Workshop: From Looking to Seeing
What makes a frame personal is how you look as much as what you look at. In the Design & Thinking Workshop, you explore light, framing and movement through photography and visual storytelling. Mobile, sunset and nature photography, along with cinematic portraits, invite you to see everyday details from new angles.
Videography, drone sessions and VR racing drone experiences offer a chance to think about perspective in motion. You can cut up prints of your own photographs and reassemble them into collages. Children, families and adults all join this visual exploration through their own interests.
Ecology Workshop: From Garden to Table
Get to know the season's produce in the organic garden and follow a seed's journey to harvest. In the Ecology Workshop, fruits, vegetables and herbs native to Didim and the Aegean are at the heart of planting and harvesting activities.
Through drying, pickling, and making tea and salads, you can use the harvest in different ways. In sessions combined with painting and photography, the colours of the produce, the texture of the leaves and the details of the garden become material for a new composition. A discovery that begins in the soil continues at the table and in the workshop.
